Conna-Lee is the founder of SKELETHEA ® and a former professional athlete with over forty years of movement knowledge and experience as a psychophysical educator for Olympic and high-performance athletes. She has successfully taught clients, for over seventeen years, how to voluntarily move their individual vertebra, achieving strength and flexibility throughout their entire spine.
Conna-Lee has been invited to present the work of SKELETHEA® at Humboldt Universität Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, UCSF San Francisco, Manhattan Physical Medcn/Rehab, NY and to the faculty of spinal cord injury, Stanford, CA.
The spine has proven to be complicated enough to support whole branches of medicine: Orthopedics, Chiropractic and Osteopathy. Yet, searching you will find no source that contains definitive scientific proof that individual vertebra can or cannot move independently. No data or descriptions to date provide the feasibility of isolated vertebral movement through conscious control. While intervertebral mobility is recognized to exist, the idea of voluntarily moving our vertebrae is not even questioned yet. It is not even challenged in biomechanics compared to the many other studies done involving other bones we can move at will. Therefore, there is no comprehensive scientific understanding of how the spine functions and moves. There is no definitive, conclusive proof of the biomechanics of vertebral translation and spinal movement.
It is believed, but not proven, that we cannot voluntarily and independently move each vertebra, and the ability to volitionally control single vertebral motion appears to be an intricate neuromuscular challenge that is not yet explored in scientific studies or literature. The spine is believed to move involuntarily as a whole column.
The absence of such scientific evidence does not imply that something is impossible! This question never seems to be asked, “can we voluntarily move our spine?”
The fact is we CAN voluntarily move a single vertebra and Conna-Lee has discovered that through conscious effort alone, we can voluntarily move our spine at the vertebral level and create endless healthy spinal postures with the spine being at the forefront of all our movements. She is on a passionate journey, making it her mission to help diminish spinal dysfunction in future generations and revise the antiquated thinking about the human spine.
She has successfully trained many clients of all ages to voluntarily move their own spine, including clients in the 80’s and 90’s. Now she is excited to be dedicating her time solely towards offering training for teens between the ages of 12 to 14.
